If you and your baby are healthy, expecting a normal birth, and hoping for a natural birth, homebirth is a wonderful choice. But homebirth isn't right for everyone. This class discusses the three different birth place options: home, free-standing birth center, and hospital-based birth center. Learn how to set the stage for your natural birth, no matter where you plan to give birth.
*Learn how your deep-seated beliefs about both home and hospital can influence the hormones orchestrating your birthing process
*Compare and contrast the pros and cons of all three types of birth places
*View births that occur at home, in a free-standing (independent) birth center, and a hospital
*Get valuable tips on how to prepare for a natural birth, no matter where you're planning to give birth
*Brainstorm ways to discuss your birthplace decision with loved ones
*Discuss possible obstacles to a natural birth that can occur in the various birth place options, and how to overcome those obstacles
*Learn what happens if a transfer of care (from home or indepedent birth center to hospital) becomes necessary
*Leave class either feeling reassured and confident in your choice of birthplace, or know what to do if you want to explore other possibilities
You are welcome to take the class as an individual or as a couple.

If there is one area that divides parents and professionals in the birth world, it is the topic of interventions! Some may over-use technology, which may benefit a few, but will actually interfere with and hinder the natural birthing process of many. Others may cling so tightly to the dream of a completely "natural childbirth" that they may refuse an intervention that could be of genuine assistance in the case of a birth that has veered off course. In this class, we give parents a step-by-step process for identifying when interventions may be helpful so that, should interventions prove necessary, you will feel confident that you and your health care provider made the right decision.
*Review in brief the process of a normal, natural childbirth, and why it is important for you and your baby, both in the short-term and the long-term
*Discuss situations in which interventions may be helpful to return a particular birth to a more normal course
*List natural alternatives to common interventions so that you will have plenty of tricks to try before deciding to go forward with a medical intervention
*Understand common procedures and interventions that are used during childbirth, including their potential benefits and possible risks, with plenty of time for YOUR questions!
*Discuss unexpected outcomes that may occur and get resources you can use should you face an unexpected outcome
*Leave feeling confident that you can discern why and when interventions may be helpful to keep your birth as normal and natural as possible
You are welcome to take the class as an individual or as a couple.

Classes generally meet three times per month to allow for sicknesses, holidays, etc.
While we recommend you take this course with your spouse, you are welcome to take the course as an individual if that works best for you. The fee covers both the birthing mother and your spouse (or the birth companion of your choice).

Christelle is very knowledgeable about childbirth and has a very well rounded perspective that was very helpful to us as new expecting parents. We feel much more comfortable and less fearful going into this process than we did before. She is also easy to communicate with and great at answering questions.
